What is the decision to join the company?

I felt the future.

Around 2000, when job hunting was conducted, the convenience store industry was about to grow. At that time, many of the hit products in the world, such as trendy sweets, were transmitted from convenience stores, and I wanted to get a job that creates trends.
Among the many companies, I chose West Japan Railway Daily Service Net because I felt the future in the excellent location of Ekinaka. There is still room to make use of the potential of the station, a place where many people gather. I wanted to be involved in the scheme.

What have you been involved in?

In parallel with the attraction of tenants of Eki Marche, we launched an Ekimaru Suites business.

After being seconded to JR West and developing a directly managed convenience store, I was in charge of attracting tenants from the ninth year of joining the company as a new development team for the Exche Marche brand. When we launched Takarazuka, the first Eki Marche, there was a section where we really wanted to put a sweets shop. "Let's make it a sweets zone where stores change for a limited time so that customers will want to stop by many times." When I proposed my own idea, my boss entrusted me with "try it", and I decided to do it in parallel with the invitation of tenants at Eki Marche. In this way, we developed "Ekimal Suites". It was an unprecedented store form, so at the beginning everything was full of things for the first time. It was difficult to attract tenants smoothly, trial and error to adjust the opening period, and it was a series of difficulties. However, thanks to the development of know-how and mechanisms in Takarazuka for two years, we opened the Osaka Sakurabashiguchi store in 2012. In fiscal 2022, we were able to grow as a single business, such as the launch of Ekimala La Mode, a derivative business model that leverages the know-how of Ekimal Suites, while gradually expanding the number of stores, mainly at the special rapid stop stations. Currently, he has left the tenant attraction business and oversees various measures and business development activities implemented by the Company across the JR West Group.

What is your job worth and commitment?

I am working on my work in a way that I think is interesting.

What I have been aware of since I joined the company is that I dare not get used to it. I think business is something that can be given "purpose" instead of "ways". You are dragged by precedents and customs, and if you learn in a "way", your work becomes routine and get used to it. Always pursue "whether there is a more interesting way or a better way" with a new feeling. I'm working hard on my job.

What is the charm of this company?

There is a deep pocket to accept new challenges flexibly.

Although it has an old history, it is a company that has an atmosphere to embrace new things positively. The atmosphere in the workplace is very calm. However, I have a strong commitment to work like me, and I have a depth of pockets that flexibly nurture human resources who want to try new things. Also, I think it is a great attraction to be able to work with a sense of stability as a group company in JR West.

Please have a strong feeling that "you can do this" and work on job hunting. The stronger the current thought, the better it will lead to a good job later. Also, find something that makes you think "I can't lose to anyone" or "I can't give up on this."
