- What is the decision to join the company?
-
It is attractive to be able to experience different businesses and occupations.
A type of person who is not good at communicating with people. In order to overcome this, I tried part-time jobs at convenience stores and supermarkets in college. I was mainly in charge of cash registers, but the number of customers who remember me increased, and I became friends enough to talk about private things, and I started to feel the joy of customer service. When I was a university student, I learned about the origin of the city, and I was fascinated by the location of the station. Under the theme of "services related to stations," I decided to work in a job centered on railway companies. Among them, what attracted us first was the best of the companies that first impression visited. When you say hello, everyone will always return a pleasant greeting. I was enrolled in athletic club activities since I was a child, and grew up teaching the importance of greetings, it was a great attraction in my eyes. In addition, at this company, there were convenience stores, hotels, station Naka development, so I was able to get involved in different industries and occupations within one company, and I felt that I could have a variety of experiences, and I decided to join the company.
- What have you been involved in?
-
Experienced the entire hotel business between two companies, from on-site to contract, new opening, sales management.
To the Management Strategy Group. The first year on-site training was taken at the ticket gate of JR Yao Station. Before joining the company, I had a part-time job experience at Seven-Eleven, so I knew a lot of the work contents, but the harvest was that I was able to feel the scene of "at a station store" on my skin, such as differences in customer demographics, the speed of customer flow, and changes depending on the time of day.
Six months later, he was seconded to JR West Viain Co., Ltd., and was in charge of front desk operations at Viain Abeno Tennoji. Although I was surprised by the secondment, I was interested in the business type of Viain, and I felt rewarding to serve customers at hotels that are different from convenience stores. Convenience stores require a sense of speed, but hotels often return at the end of the day, and they prefer relaxed customer service. That difference was interesting.
In 2018, since I was transferred to the Sales Department of Viain, I have been involved in large amounts of money moving work, such as contracts and negotiations with outsourcing contractors. After being promoted to chief, he was also in charge of opening a new hotel, educating staff, and paying for breakfast. What impressed me is the opening project of the Via Inn Hiroshima Shinkansen Exit, which was entrusted to me for the first time. The usual preparation for opening a business takes about a year, but the time given to me is about six months. Although it was a hard schedule, it opened safely and as scheduled, and we were able to see it until the customer entered.
In 2021, he returned to West Japan Railway Company's Daily Service Net. In the Via Inn Division, I was in charge of sales management of the entire Via Inn Hotel, general contracts (a wide range of areas including travel agents, affiliated restaurants, tenant contracts, etc.), hygiene management of restaurants, and consideration of new development sites.
Through secondment and return to work, I was able to engage in many areas of the hotel business in my twenties.
In 2022, we were transferred to the Management Strategy Group of the Company Marketing Division. In contrast to the previous business specializing in the Viain business, I was involved in the creation of medium- to long-term DSN (mainly in charge of capital investment), management of capital investment budgets, application of business adaptation plans, insurance-related business, etc. I sometimes feel lack of study due to differences from my previous work, but I feel that I have more new discoveries, knowledge, and experience. In the future, I would like to take on challenges in the current department, absorb new things, and grow. - Joining to the present

- What is your job worth and commitment?
-
From the hotel business in general, to the company-wide business in general.
The job does not end when you do your part. I think it is important to always think about the whole thing, understand the flow of the surrounding departments, and connect them to the next one. If you give a good pass, it will be easier for the next department to work. The more you develop your career and go to the position above, the more important this perspective will be.
Until now, I have been involved with many people in the Viain business and studied a lot. In particular, I feel that my experience and personal connections during the secondment period have become a great asset to me.
In the current department, regardless of the Viain business, we have many contacts with all DSN businesses and company constituent companies and affiliated companies.
In the future, we hope to deepen our relationships with all departments and companies, and to advance our career as a human resource who can take a bird's-eye view of the entire company. - What is the charm of this company?
-
A good care company that will follow you closely during your secondment.
Either way, I think it’s a “good company.” I was seconded shortly after joining the company, and worked for JR West Viain Co., Ltd. for three years and eight months. Looking back now, I was fortunate to be able to experience a series of flows from on-site operations to the opening of a new hotel, but at first I was worried about secondment. I was seconded at a time when I didn't remember my face and name in the company, but a senior who was an education supervisor in the training of new employees invited me to a meeting in the company, and another senior introduced me around, saying, "I'm Tanikawa, an employee who is on secondment." You were very happy.
